Writers with Drinks–Not your Average Open Mic

Writers with Drinks:  10 August 2013

MartiniBack in 2001, writer Charlie Jane Anders, assembled a group of other writers to read their work on stage. Instead of the solemn, typical performance of writers, this event is a bit more . . . shall we say, interactive–if not downright raucous.

Instead of struggling, young writers reading freshly-minted words from college-ruled notebooks, Anders tapped the diverse group of writers and performers who live and travel through this city of ours to perform some of their works in an intimate and local setting. In the last 12 years, you might have seen Amy Tan, Tobias Wolff, Taylor Mali, Lev Grossman, or Lemony Snicket up on that stage (no beer goggles necessary).

This Saturday night promises to be alcohol-induced, phonetic-fun of the finest kind with great literature, high energy people and stiff drinks.

Location: Makeout Room in the Mission District of San Francisco, CA.
Time: 7:30-9:30pm (Doors open at 7)
Cost: $5 – $10 (Proceeds benefit the Center for Sex and Culture)
More Information: Writers with Drinks Website
